Sexual Assault On Public Texas University Property

For our research proposal, we have chosen to analyze a topic that hits fairly close to home for the three of us. This paper will look at the social condition of sexual assault concerning college aged females on public Texas University property. The paper will mimic the style of a grant, as if we were an organization looking to get funds to implement a program that would help decrease this problem in our community. The problem of sexual assault is a very broad topic; under it falls everything from forced sexual intercourse, to child molestation, to fondling. In order to make our research more accurate, we have chosen to reduce the definition of sexual assault down to just forced intercourse, or in other terms, rape. We have found a†¦show more content†¦Lastly, to define our arena, Texas public University property means that we are only looking at sexual assault that was committed on property owned by Universities that receive public funds from the state of Texas. For example, if an assault was committed in a fraternity house that is considered off campus, the crime will not be evaluated in our numbers. Every part of our research statement has been defined now, and the purpose of defining each aspect ourselves was to not be over or under inclusive. The reason we have narrowed down the definition of sexual assault to just forced intercourse is because among a crime that is not often reported, rape is the aspect that females will most commonly report to authorities. We chose seventeen as our minimum age because it is the legal age of consent in Texas, and any female older than seventeen is also at risk of being raped on a campus. It may seem over inclusive to add every age over seventeen, but all sexual assault crimes, regardless of age, are reported in the Clery Act. Just studying females is important because they are the most likely population to be victims of sexual assault. Finally, public campuses are the only Universities we are using because data is more readily available and representative of actual crime rates. This is the year of 2014 and only recently has domestic violence been defined as a crime in the United States. Domestic violence is still prevalent in countries all over the world and it is an important issue that needs to be addresses before the measure of violence takes place. Although there isn’t any education programs that are teaching women how to site signs of a potentially dangerous relationship, there is aftercare for those who have been in an abusive relationship. Aftercare for domestic violence helps give women strength to get back on their feet. To better understand what he meant in this statement, his premise can be divided in two sub premises. The first being facts stated as similar to bricks of a house, implying that science is built, in the same way as house is constructed, with facts. Pride and Prejudice: Feminist Origins Jane Austen wrote Pride and Prejudice in 1813, and it is seen as an important novel. Jane Austen grew up in a patriarchal society, with a father being a clergyman. Austen went against the normal for girls and rejected the man that proposed to her. She then began to write in a woman’s perspective. By using the feminist lens to analyze Jane Austen’s Pride and Prejudice, readers can realize how Austen used the characters in her novel to portray feminism, which at the time was a predominate movement. Elizabeth disregards thinking this way and focusses only on who she wants to marry. The reason she marries Darcy i s because she loves him and she likes the superiority of his complicated yet accomplished mind, which according to the novel Mr. Collins does not have (Brown 332). Elizabeth’s mother became very upset with her because rejection is very rare in their society especially when the house was going to Mr. Collins and the only way for them to keep it was to marry off all the daughters. Mrs. Bennet hardly cared who her daughters marry, because that is her sole purpose, to get all her daughters married off.
